About Anand James Dev
With over 15 years of practice in visual art and a formal education in Applied Art, I work at the intersection of realism, design, and visual language. My studio practice is grounded in drawing, figurative studies, and landscape painting—disciplines I use to explore the relationship between perception and meaning.
Influenced by the dramatic light and emotional depth of Caravaggio and Rembrandt, I am drawn to realism not only for its technical rigor but for its capacity to speak across time and culture. My approach is informed by a deep engagement with semiotics and semantics, developed through years of teaching design and working in film, graphic, and product design.
Drawing is at the heart of my work—it is the lens through which I observe, understand, and articulate the world. Whether through the contours of a figure or the atmosphere of a landscape, my aim is to create work that is both seen and felt, rooted in observation but resonant with emotion.
